Full-time Aquatics Lead Instructor position reporting to the Wellness and Aquatics Coordinator, responsible for maintaining safe aquatic environments, instructing swimming lessons, supervising staff, and delivering quality recreation programs including swim lessons and aqua fitness.
Key Responsibilities
Performs lifeguard duties and instructs swimming lessons according to Lifesaving Society Swim for Life curriculum
Maintains high aquatic safety standards, checks safety equipment before each shift, and supervises swim lessons and public swims
Assists with planning, organizing, and delivery of swimming lessons and completes evaluation and progress report cards
Supervises staff to ensure Lifesaving Society aquatic lifesaving standards are achieved using evaluative tools
Teaches Leadership programming including Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid, and National Lifeguard as required; mentors swim instructors
Qualifications
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or in the process of obtaining
Minimum one year of progressive, related experience in aquatic and recreation operation
Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Service, Swim Instructor, Standard First Aid and CPR-C, and Aquatic Supervisor certifications
Ability to provide current and acceptable vulnerable sector police record check
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office and O. Reg 565: Public Pools
