About this Role

Regular part-time crossing guard position reporting to the Supervisor of School Crossing Assistance Program. Responsible for directing school-age children and pedestrians across a highway at an assigned location during designated periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct movement of children across a highway
  • Maintain contact with schools and report student problems
  • Notify supervisor of unsafe conditions, traffic violations, and problems
  • Maintain equipment provided in good condition

Qualifications

  • Partial high school completion and three months experience working with children, or equivalent combination

  • Clean and neat appearance; courteous and tactful manner with children, parents, and public
  • Physically and mentally fit; able to climb, stretch, twist, lift up to 1 kg, stand and walk up to 1.5 hours; good hearing and vision
  • Knowledge of Traffic Laws; demonstrated maturity, sound judgment, reasoning, and leadership qualities
