About this Role
Regular part-time crossing guard position reporting to the Supervisor of School Crossing Assistance Program. Responsible for directing school-age children and pedestrians across a highway at an assigned location during designated periods.
Key Responsibilities
Direct movement of children across a highway
Maintain contact with schools and report student problems
Notify supervisor of unsafe conditions, traffic violations, and problems
Maintain equipment provided in good condition
Participate in data collection
Qualifications
Partial high school completion and three months experience working with children, or equivalent combination
Good oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
Clean and neat appearance; courteous and tactful manner with children, parents, and public
Physically and mentally fit; able to climb, stretch, twist, lift up to 1 kg, stand and walk up to 1.5 hours; good hearing and vision
Knowledge of Traffic Laws; demonstrated maturity, sound judgment, reasoning, and leadership qualities
