Deputy-Treasurer role reporting to the Treasurer in the Corporate Services department. Responsible for assisting with statutory duties under the Municipal Act, coordinating municipal accounting activities including cash management, accounts receivable/payable, budgeting, tax/water billing, and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Support coordination of municipal accounting activities including cash management, A/R, A/P, capital assets, budget, tax/water billing and collection, and general ledger maintenance
Manage accounting information system and monthly/quarterly reporting requirements
Review financial controls to ensure procedures comply with GAAPs and statutory requirements
Supervise finance department employees and prepare components of annual budget
Manage funding applications, municipal insurance coordination, capital assets, and support other departments
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in business administration, accounting, or related field, or equivalent years of experience and education
Minimum 2-3 years experience in financial activities, preferably in unionized municipal or public sector setting
Demonstrated high level of confidentiality and ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat at intermediate level
Valid Ontario class G driver's license and access to a vehicle
