About this Role
The City of Temiskaming Shores seeks an experienced Fire Chief to provide strategic leadership and operational management of the municipal Fire Department, overseeing fire suppression, emergency response, fire prevention, training, and departmental administration.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and prioritize departmental goals, policies, and procedures in alignment with Council direction
Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, municipal partners, and emergency service organizations
Lead recruitment, training, development, and performance management of staff and volunteer firefighters
Develop and recommend policies, procedures, and long-term strategies for service excellence and organizational growth
Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and industry standards
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Fire Protection Technology, Emergency Management, or related field
Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience in fire services, emergency management, or public administration
Valid First Aid/CPR certification
Experience in composite or volunteer fire service (asset)
NFPA Standard certifications (preferred)
