Full-time contract Health & Safety Coordinator position for 16 months reporting to the Manager of Health & Safety. The role involves developing and delivering occupational health and safety training, implementing and auditing the City's H&S program, investigating incidents, and supporting Joint Health & Safety Committees.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, coordinate, and facilitate occupational health and safety training sessions and corporate core orientation (WHMIS, Driver Awareness, Workplace Violence & Harassment Prevention)
Assist in developing, implementing, auditing, and improving the City's Health & Safety program in accordance with regulatory requirements
Research, develop, implement, monitor, and update corporate health and safety policies, procedures, SOPs, and Safety Talks
Supervise Joint Health & Safety Committees and Health & Safety Representatives; assess effectiveness and training needs
Investigate health and safety complaints, workplace accidents, and injuries; identify root causes and guide corrective actions
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or closely related field
Minimum 3 years progressive experience in occupational health and safety role
Knowledge and experience developing policies, procedures, conducting hazard assessments and workplace inspections
Ability to interpret and apply health and safety legislation, standards, and guidelines
Experience developing and delivering training, familiarity with ergonomic assessments and occupational hygiene testing
