Permanent full-time Heavy Equipment Technician position reporting to the Foreman, Fleet & Facilities Services. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the City's fleet of equipment, with a focus on large equipment such as graders, loaders, and fire trucks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing preventative maintenance, diagnostic work, and repair on large City equipment including graders, loaders, and fire trucks
  • Executing government inspections and conducting emergency and breakdown repairs
  • Providing training to Automotive Technicians, Apprentices, Labourers, and temporary seasonal staff
  • Determining required parts, creating purchase orders, and sourcing from suppliers
  • Recording and completing administrative procedures including inspection sheets, authorization forms, and service records

Qualifications

  • Heavy Equipment Technician Journeyman Certificate recognized by the Province of Alberta
  • Valid CVIP License and Class 3 Driver's License with air brake endorsement
  • Minimum 3–5 years of journeyman experience, preferably in a municipal environment
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; strong written communication and electronic record-keeping skills
