Reports to Senior Manager of Capital Projects and Engineering to manage municipal drainage matters under the Ontario Drainage Act, administer maintenance and improvements to drainage infrastructure, serve as Municipal Weed Inspector, and provide customer service to landowners using municipal drainage systems.
Key Responsibilities
Liaise with landowners and manage procedural meetings under Ontario Drainage Act for drainage projects
Review engineering reports, create drainage-related by-laws, and assist in resolving appeals
Manage preventative and regular maintenance programs for municipal drain infrastructure
Administer Town Phragmites and invasive species program and weed spraying program
Investigate noxious weed complaints and coordinate removal; issue Provincial Orders when necessary
Qualifications
3-year College Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent education/experience in related discipline
Ontario Drainage Superintendent Course and Certificate
Valid Ontario Class 'G' licence with good driving record
3–5 years experience in municipal government including infrastructure inspection
3–5 years experience applying Drainage Act and Weed Control Act with all applicable licences
