The City of Dryden seeks a Building & By-Law Services Supervisor to conduct building inspections for small-scale residential construction, ensure Ontario Building Code compliance, and supervise by-law enforcement staff. The role involves inspections, investigations, complaint response, and public engagement regarding building and municipal by-law requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct building inspection functions for small-scale residential construction and renovations
Supervise and coordinate by-law services staff; oversee inspections, investigations, and complaint responses
Identify and document by-law contraventions and follow enforcement procedures
Maintain accurate inspection, investigation, and enforcement records; prepare reports and documentation
Provide guidance to staff, assign and prioritize work, and assist with complex or escalated matters
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in architectural, engineering, or construction technology; or equivalent combination of education and 3–5 years progressive relevant experience
Current and active Building Code Identification Number (BCIN); MLEO or OAPSO certification considered an asset
Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Building Code Act, zoning, municipal bylaws, and Provincial Offences Act
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, engineering reports, and surveyor reports
Valid Class G driver's licence; Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness Training Certificate or willingness to obtain following offer of employment
