Technical administrative position responsible for reviewing construction plans, issuing building permits, and conducting building inspections to ensure compliance with the National Building Code of Canada and applicable bylaws. Key Responsibilities
Review construction drawings for compliance with National Building Code and bylaws
Conduct site inspections on new construction, renovations, and rehabilitation work
Accept building permit applications and advise applicants on standards and procedures
Investigate Building Code violations and issue violation notices and Stop Work Orders
Prepare technical reports and attend Planning and Heritage Board meetings as needed
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree, diploma, or formal training in construction, architecture, civil engineering, engineering technology, building science, construction technology, or related field
Minimum 5 years experience in building construction, design, project management, or inspections
Minimum 1–2 years experience as a Building Official in a municipal environment
Eligible for appointment as Level 2 Building Official per Prince Edward Island Building Codes Regulations
Valid P.E.I. Driver's License or equivalent and access to a vehicle
