The Chief of Police Services leads the Charlottetown Police Service with responsibility for maintaining peace and public order, preventing and suppressing crime, protecting lives and property, and managing all operational and capital budgets. Success is measured by reductions in crime and disorder, increased traffic safety, and high public trust.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and management of all components of the Charlottetown Police Service including capital and operational budgets
Preservation and maintenance of public peace and prevention of crime within the municipality
Maintenance of discipline and performance of duty within the police service
Day-to-day administration of the police service
Application of professional policy procedures and enforcement of policies made by the Protective & Emergency Services Committee
Qualifications
Previous experience in law enforcement and execution of policing strategies at senior level as a sworn officer or equivalent
Must meet appointment requirements as established in Section 9 of the Police Act and Section 7 of the Police Act General Regulations
Training and progressive experience in leadership, organizational change and management
Strategic leadership skills including fostering collaboration and inclusive culture
Business and financial acumen with understanding of key business fundamentals and fiscal accountability
