Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and implement volunteer-based programs for seniors and disabled citizens
  • Recruit, interview, and select volunteers; conduct police information checks
  • Schedule and coordinate recreational bus trips; accompany clients and ensure their care and well-being
  • Conduct volunteer orientation sessions and provide training and performance reviews
  • Maintain liaison with internal and external contacts; direct participants to community and public health resources; prepare files, records and reports

Qualifications

  • Certificate in volunteer management from a recognized community college, supplemented by commercial courses and related experience (gerontology courses desirable); or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Considerable knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing the work
  • Sound knowledge of community resources related to seniors and disabled citizens in Burnaby
  • Ability to plan, direct and implement volunteer programs; interview and match volunteers with clients
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence - Class 5; St. John's First Aid Certificate; CPR Certificate

Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–4:45 PM (Nine-Day Fortnight)
Temporary full-time until February 28, 2027
