About this Role

Temporary full-time labourer position in forestry involving semi-skilled manual tasks such as tree trimming, planting, pest treatment, and equipment operation. Reports to supervisor; may direct other labourers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trim, prune, and water trees using rigging ropes, power saws, and hand tools
  • Plant, stake, fertilize, mulch, and care for trees
  • Identify and treat trees affected by pests and disease
  • Assist in operating chipping machines and setting out safety equipment
  • Perform minor maintenance on forestry equipment; may direct other labourers

Qualifications

  • High school graduation plus considerable forestry work experience including some supervisory experience, or equivalent training/experience combination
  • Considerable knowledge of forestry practices, methods, tools, materials, and safety precautions
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions with minimal supervision
  • Considerable skill in use of hand tools and motorized forestry equipment
  • Valid British Columbia Driver's Licence; sufficient physical strength and stamina for heavy outdoor manual work in all weather

Position Details

Schedule: 40 hours weekly; Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Temporary full time until December 11, 2026
CUPE 23 Outside Division Collective Agreement
