About this Role

Lead Arena Service Worker position in a multipurpose arena facility involving supervision of ice-making, maintenance, and janitorial staff; operation and maintenance of refrigeration and ice-making equipment; and building maintenance and repair work.

Key Responsibilities

Assign, review, supervise and participate in work of ice-making, maintenance and janitorial staff
Ensure effective functioning of refrigeration and ice-making equipment through regular inspection of pumps, valves, filters, meters, motors and gauges
Troubleshoot equipment problems and determine corrective action; assist in developing preventive maintenance schedules
Perform minor repairs and building maintenance work; conduct safety checks on fire extinguishers, alarms and safety equipment
Obtain and oversee private contractor services; provide information and assistance to public and facility user groups

Qualifications

Grade 12 completion supplemented by technical courses related to the work plus sound related experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience
Considerable knowledge of ice-making and refrigeration equipment operating principles and building maintenance methods
Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems and carpentry applicable to facility maintenance
Ability to supervise, assign and review staff work; operate, maintain and repair arena equipment
Refrigeration Operator's Certificate, First Aid Certificate or equivalent, and valid British Columbia Driver's License required

Position Details

Regular Full Time position

40 hours weekly

Shifts scheduled 7 days per week between 5:30am and 1:30am, may change based on operational requirements

Subject to CUPE 23 Inside Division Collective Agreement Schedule 'B' Notes 'B' and 'J'
