About this Role

Regular part-time Lifeguard/Instructor position at Edmonds Community Centre combining lifeguarding duties and swim instruction across all age ranges. Responsible for ensuring swimmer safety, providing aquatic programs, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform lifeguarding duties and monitor swimmer safety
  • Provide swim instruction and lead instructional and recreational aquatic programs for all ages
  • Educate on pool rules and perform minor maintenance tasks
  • Provide first aid treatment
  • Provide information to the public regarding swimmer progress and instructional evaluation techniques

Qualifications

  • Up to high school graduation supplemented by courses in lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatic instruction and fitness, and pool maintenance, or equivalent training and experience
  • Sound knowledge of lifeguarding, lifesaving, cardio pulmonary resuscitation and first aid theory and practice
  • Demonstrated sound aquatic skills and ability to instruct at standards set by relevant authorities
  • Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard – Pool certificate
  • Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor, Standard First Aid, and B.C.R.P.A. Aquatic Fitness Leader certificates

Position Details

48 hours bi-weekly (0.60 FTE)
Schedule: Friday 6:00AM–2:30PM; Saturday and Sunday 8:00AM–4:30PM
Location: Edmonds Community Centre
CUPE 23 Inside Division Collective Agreement
