About this Role

Manager, Recreation Services will provide strategic and operational leadership for aquatics expansion at two new flagship facilities in Burnaby (Cameron Community Centre and Burnaby Lake Recreation Centre), managing facility openings and subsequently overseeing the city's indoor and outdoor pool portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Lead aquatics operations at Cameron Community Centre and Burnaby Lake Recreation Centre from pre-opening planning through day-to-day operations across multiple pools
Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing aquatics team including supervisors, aquatic leaders, lifeguard-instructors, and auxiliary staff
Design and oversee delivery of comprehensive aquatic program portfolio including competitive, recreational, instructional, and therapeutic programs
Establish and maintain highest standards of aquatic safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management
Manage aquatics operating budget and build relationships with competitive user groups, swim clubs, and external stakeholders

Qualifications

Degree in Recreation Administration, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience
Demonstrated senior leadership experience in aquatics management including direct accountability for a 50-metre or comparable high-volume, multi-pool facility
Proven track record as a developer of people and building high-performing teams
Strong operational depth in budget management, scheduling, multi-program service delivery, and complex operational planning
Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence
