About this job
Mechanic responsible for maintenance and repair of municipal fleet equipment, including heavy equipment, trucks, and snow equipment. Reports to Fleet Coordinator and Assistant Manager of Public Works.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain vehicle engines, hydraulics, frames, tires, and upfits
Monitor inventory and identify parts requiring ordering
Keep detailed records of vehicle maintenance completed
Report vehicle maintenance concerns to Fleet Coordinator
Implement and follow maintenance schedules on all department vehicles
Qualifications
Grade XII or equivalent
Valid P.E.I. driver's license Class 3A
Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Certification for PEI
Experience in repair of heavy equipment
Ability to repair motor vehicles from passenger vehicles to heavy equipment with emphasis on heavy equipment
At a glance
Hours: 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week; shifts may vary
Ability to work overtime when required
