About this Role

Microcomputer Support Specialist 2 (Multimedia) provides first-level user support and problem resolution for multimedia computers and audiovisual systems in meeting rooms and collaboration spaces. The role includes troubleshooting hardware and software, installing system updates, testing applications, and supporting broadcast and live event environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to user calls and investigate/resolve first-level software and hardware problems on multimedia computers and audiovisual systems
  • Install, configure, and distribute system updates and new software applications
  • Install, configure, and connect computer supporting audiovisual components
  • Test software applications and provide operational support for broadcast and live event environments
  • Establish liaison with users, provide guidance and informal training on application software and multimedia technologies

Qualifications

  • Completion of one-year certificate program in computer sciences or related discipline (multimedia and broadcast) at technical institute or community college, plus sound audio-visual experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Considerable knowledge of practices and procedures for installation and operation of computer equipment and software applications (room control, video conferencing, PA systems)
  • Knowledge of corporate standard applications and operating systems (Windows, macOS, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Teams Rooms)
  • Ability to investigate and resolve routine AV and PC software, hardware and network problems
  • Valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia

Position Details

Competition No: 2026-125
Duration: Regular Full Time
Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM (or by mutual agreement Monday to Friday 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM)
Subject to CUPE 23 Inside Division Collective Agreement
