The Town of Torbay seeks a motivated Recreation Coordinator on a temporary, full-time basis to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate recreation programs and special events for the Department of Recreation and Community Services.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, implement, and review recreational programs including summer programs, fitness programs, and community healthy living programs
Assist Director with special events such as Winter Carnival, Easter, Canada Day Celebrations, Fall Festival, Halloween, Christmas Festivities, and Killick Coast Games
Coordinate facility bookings and rentals for programs, special events, Torbay Common rentals, and Upper Three Corner Pond rentals
Communicate and cooperate with Community Groups and Organizations to provide information and program support
Prepare and promote material about Town programs and services; assist with training or mentoring of new employees and volunteers
Qualifications
Degree or college diploma in recreation, physical education, or equivalent community-based recreation program complemented by minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
Ability to supervise program and summer staff with varied backgrounds
Time management skills and ability to set priorities; ability to chair meetings, facilitate discussions, and motivate volunteers
Proficient in office computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, presentations, and social media platforms
Valid Class 5 driver's license for Newfoundland and Labrador; valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification; valid Royal Newfoundland and Labrador Code of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check
