Entry-level Utility Operator in Training position performing manual work in wastewater and storm water system operations, maintenance, and repair. Offers opportunity to earn EOCP Wastewater Collection certification with potential advancement to Utility Operator 1.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater collection and storm water systems
Install, repair, and replace sewer mains, services, and related infrastructure
Perform unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks related to public works and utilities
Support emergency response efforts such as sewer main breaks and infrastructure failures
Perform manual work with tools, equipment, and excavation under close supervision
Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by experience in construction, maintenance, or utility system operations, or equivalent combination of training and experience
EOCP Certification - Operator in Training (desirable)
Working knowledge of wastewater collection systems and storm systems
Ability to operate various tools and equipment safely; perform unskilled and semi-skilled tasks requiring physical stamina and coordination; work in various weather conditions
Valid Class 5 Driver's License for British Columbia
Position Details
Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
