Skilled journeyman-level mechanic role maintaining and repairing automotive and heavy-duty equipment such as backhoes, graders, trucks, and engines. Works in the Garage unit performing overhaul, maintenance, troubleshooting of hydraulic/electrical/brake systems, and may supervise assistants.
Key Responsibilities
Perform general mechanical overhaul and maintenance on automotive, construction, and maintenance equipment
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and brake systems
Occasionally supervise equipment operators or assistants during overhaul or repair work
Use standard tune-up equipment for internal combustion engines
Perform related work as required
Qualifications
Grade 12 completion plus recognized Trade Certificate of Qualification plus considerable journeyman-level experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience
Red Seal Certification (asset)
Thorough knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment in automotive and heavy-duty equipment maintenance and repair
Ability to perform skilled overhaul, repair, and adjustment tasks on various automotive equipment
Valid BC Driver's Licence Class 3 with Air Brake Endorsement, Certificate of Qualification – Mechanic, and Authorized Inspector License
